Of The Eternal Rock

You crossed the shores, fought inland wars against the screws,
You surfed along the whispers of sheep and shepherds,
Now you stand before the empty plain
                              you vied to accomplish.

Many Calchases weaved the whispers,
               driven desolation into the ceiling
And you kept rolling, kept looking,
                  half dozed in dreamless slumber
Sketching in the void, against the uncertainty
                                            of voices, of cuspids,
The azure shade with flying shadows
across the holes and across the hills.

In Spring the rain refused to come,
The dust dominated like bricks dominate civilizations,
                                        like atoms dominate the universe.

And you,
The lover, kept silently looking,
                         silently rolling.
